About Matteel
Matteel Jones joined Greenville Technical College as the Vice President for Student Services in February 2013, having served previously as the Vice President for Student Affairs at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in Beaufort, South Carolina. She has an extensive background as a student affairs practitioner serving in various roles.
A first-generation technical/community college graduate, Dr. Jones earned an Associate of Arts degree from Piedmont Technical College, a B.A. in Counseling and Human Services from Limestone College, a masters in Career and Technology Education from Clemson University, a graduate certificate in Higher Education Leadership from the University of South Carolina and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina.
Dr. Jones is active in the community and has served as a board member and volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club, MEGS House, the Greenwood Arts Council and currently serves on boards and committees for various organizations, including the Rotary Club of Greenville, the Community Investment Cabinet for the United Way of Greenville, the Hispanic Alliance Education Committee and the Furman University Riley Diversity Leadership Institute. In addition, she recently joined Greenville Women Giving and was selected as a participant in Leadership Greenville 42 class for the current year. Dr. Jones serves as an accreditation team Chair and evaluator for SACS-COC and is involved in various professional associations and is a member of Springfield Baptist Church. She is driven by the belief that all individuals in our communities should have an opportunity to access a college education and be successful.
