Chair of the Creative Writing Department at the S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities in Greenville, Scott Gould’s poetry, fiction and nonfiction have been published in magazines and anthologies including Kenyon Review, Blood Orange Review, Carolina Quarterly, Black Warrior Review, Bull: Men’s Fiction, New Stories From the South, and New Southern Harmonies, among others.
He is a past winner of the Literature Fellowship from the South Carolina Arts Commission and the Fiction Fellowship from the South Carolina Academy of Authors. Gould’s scriptwriting has won awards from the International Television Association and the London Film Festival. He is the recipient of a Surdna Arts Teacher Fellowship for study in Italy.
In 2010, he was awarded the Ovation Inspired Teaching Award from the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers for the second time, and he was named the Literary Arts Educator of the Year by YoungArts/NFAA. Gould recently wrote the script for the new television series, Rockin’ A Hard Place, and his feature-length script, Baby J, is in development with Shadowlight Pictures.
