Get to know the accomplished individuals who will present at the TEDxGreenville conference on April 8th! In this series, writer Jennifer Oladipo asks some compelling questions.
In his mission to become an elite athlete, Daniel Cloy has developed a positive perception which provides insight into our own struggles and obstacles.
Whom would you consider to be a modern day superhero?
A person who is bigger than his or her problems.
How does your work or art affect the way you see yourself?
It reminds me of two things. I am thankful for all the blessings in my life, and I want to make the world a better place.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find it through a challenge or defeat. When someone says something is impossible or an obstacle too great to overcome. In order to be inspired, you have to feel something that makes you want to be inspired. Inspiration is internalized and built up until it pushes you to move forward.
What is the next frontier for the human race?
Accepting things we cannot change, and changing things we accept.
What is your favorite TED talk and why?
Dr. Hugh Herr discussing the advancements in prosthetic technology. His approach to building superior devices comes from an understanding that we must push ourselves to create better technology.
What was the last idea, big or small, that you thought was an idea worth sharing?
Prosthetic or exoskeletal devices that communicate and work in unison via eye-tracking software and remote sensors to provide enhanced precision and quickness.
Like most people from Greenville, I have a tremendous pride in our city and want to show the caliber of individuals who make it a wonderful place. Our community has incredible ideas, vision, and determination, which has driven it to be great success. I want TEDx viewers to share our spirit with the rest of the world.
