Ella Mae Bowen
Ella Mae Bowen is a powerful new voice in the world of country music. Although just 18, Entertainment Weekly described Ella Mae’s voice as having “an urgency beyond her years.” Hailing from the small town of Walhalla, South Carolina, Ella Mae began writing and performing her own songs at age seven before moving to Nashville. Her commanding voice and honest songwriting earned her the support of artists such as Hunter Hayes, Seth Bolt (Needtobreathe), Emmylou Harris, and Keith Urban, who called Ella Mae “a beautiful blend of bold soul and human fragility. Add that to a natural born songwriter, and you’ve got true artistry…and she’s just getting started!” In 2011, Ella Mae began working with Red Light Management and graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. That same year, her version of “Holding Out for a Hero” appeared on the Footloose soundtrack, making Ella Mae the only unsigned artist on the album. She proved to be the soundtrack’s breakout star, as the music video received over 3.5 million hits on YouTube.
Ella Mae is currently hard at work on her independent debut album to be released later this year. You can stream four songs on her website from her upcoming EP to released soon. So stay tuned.
